Hi everyone! I’m Kelly Stensland, the founder of The Barn Dallas. I am excited to dive into the how and why behind this brand, and share a little more of my story! Thank you for being here.

My riding journey

Horses have been the center of my life since I first sat on a pony when I was three years old. I competed in the Hunters and Equitation for several years. I put a lot of pressure on myself to qualify for finals, look and perform my best, and it took a lot of the fun out of the sport. I made the decision to switch to the Jumpers in 2021, and my entire outlook changed. While I have now competed up to the High Amateurs and National Grand Prixs, my favorite place remains inside the barn. Beyond the thrill of the competition, the barn is the place I find the most peace and center myself.

Why I started The Barn Dallas

While pursuing my Advertising degree at SMU, and traveling back and forth to shows, I realized something was missing every time I went to go pack my suitcase. I am a sweat set addict, always have been, and likely always will be. When packing for shows I would bring my typical sweats to wear at home, and uncomfortable jeans and sweaters to wear to dinner and the night classes. I wanted high-quality athleisure; stylish enough to wear outside the ring, but functional for the equestrian lifestyle. That is how The Barn Dallas was born.

The name, "The Barn Dallas"

I named the brand after the place where I find the most peace, the barn, and an ode to a city I love. Although I was pursuing something I loved, launching The Barn Dallas wasn’t easy. It started with inventory in my apartment living room and navigating early stages of production while balancing school and riding.

Quality and versatility

From the Stable Collection, to the Ringside Collection, I focus on versatile pieces like shorts that don’t compromise on quality and crewnecks designed with a neckline wide enough to fit over a helmet. I made these products to enhance the athlete's lifestyle. After a long day at a show, or a relaxing day at home, I want you to feel confident and comfortable every time you wear The Barn Dallas.

The Barn Blog

Now, I have created The Barn Blog: a digital community for us who feel most ourselves at the barn. From the equestrian CEO to the amateur finding their way back to the sport, I want this to be a place where everyone feels seen and heard. And maybe you can learn a thing or two along the way! We all share the same passion, and we all deserve a space to connect. I am looking forward to this next chapter, hearing from athletes of all kinds, and building a community around a place we all love. Thank you for being here with me!

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for being apart of this journey. For the love of the horse and the life around them, welcome to The Barn Blog at The Barn Dallas.
